Meet Our Specialists

Heaven Is Where Passion Meets Precision

At El Cielo, our wines are the result of the passion and precision our specialists invest in the wine-making process and the art of wine pairing. Each handcrafted wine tells an authentic story of fragrance, flavor, texture, color, and time. Let our knowledgeable winemakers and sommeliers share this story with you and connect you even deeper to the riches found in Valle de Guadalupe.

Jesus Rivera - Winemaker

Jesus Rivera mastered his passion for winemaking at a very young age, and has continued to create outstanding wines for more than two decades. Born to a family of local winemakers from Valle de Guadalupe, Jesus has been cultivating grapes with his father and grandfather since he can remember. His passion for viniculture led him to Chateau Camou, where he learned how to make great wines under the knowledgeable Dr. Víctor Torres Alegre. As a part of the team, Jesus was also able to learn from the renown French winemaker, Michel Rolland, an advisor to Chateau Camou winery. His style is a combination of avant-garde technology and Old-World vinicultural techniques. As our head Winemaker since 2010, Jesus has been making award-winning wines from a purist approach by allowing each blend to express the true characters of the Valley. He has proudly passed his passion onto his son Jesus Jr., who now works beside him at El Cielo as our Assistant Winemaker.

Jesus Rivera Jr.- Assistant Winemaker

Like his father, Jesus Rivera Jr. was raised in the vineyards of Valle de Guadalupe. For Jesus, carrying the legacy of his father is both a joy and honor. He became certified in Gastronomy & Winemaking from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC), giving him the opportunity to expand his knowledge abroad in Spain. Following tradition, Jesus worked at his family’s viticultural project, Vinos de J Rivera, and developed an even deeper understanding of the unique qualities of the land. Since 2013, father and son have worked their magic as a team at El Cielo where their family name will forever be associated with the rise of quality Baja California wine.
